Beautiful Writing, Part 5: John Donne

charles french words reading and writing

John Donne was a poet, philosopher, and man of the church in Renaissance England. His writing covered a wide range of material, including poems, songs, and sermons. I want to quote from one of his most famous pieces: “Meditation 17”, which many readers will recognize as the epigram at the beginning of Ernest Hemingway’s For Whom The Bell Tolls:

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

I am your loving brother, but I am also your closest friend, for I am protecting you and I have my eyes on you and my heart is with thee at all times. Where Words Daily Come

A thought of you fills
me deep within with a
shower of love each day

Filling my heart with
a sparkling joy which I
will seek daily in my
life to stay

What a thought it is I
find which brings, such
a lovely turbulence inside

For each thought lasts
many moments filling me
with such a joyous pride

I am reminded my love you
are just as lovely when in my
quiet times on you I would

Because what lives deep in
my mind is just as lovely
as the reality my eyes daily

It’s wonderful to have such
living memories inside during
the moments when I am not
near to you

For the blessings of love you
have given to me will always
chase away any sad lonely blues.

But tree earth has been around for millions of years before us humans, and it will be here for millions of years after us. It will evict us before it allows us to destroy it. Something must change.

The only opposition to that negativity is positivity. But not everyone can be positive. Positivity is the best asset is the law of attraction. Neo Positivity is different from just being positive. It setting alarms, mental exercises, being accountable for the good and bad things you manifest into your life. I’ve mastered the art of “Thoughts Become Things” my life is my resume. And I’ve devoted the rest of my life to teaching others how to create their futures.

The best part…
