Living In Pain

my emotions are so raw

i’m on the floor crying

pouring out my heart

can you hear me now?

each tear is a scream

going out to the universe

demanding answers, i plead

cursing and accusing him

then i pick myself up

i’m stronger than i knew

living to fight this pain

looking for a ray of sun

seeking a purpose in today

hoping for a better tomorrow

always remembering yesterday

believing i will survive

Coyolxauhqui: Aztec Moon Goddess

I DO LOVE HISTORY!

David Taliesin's avatarSabbats and Sabbaths

Coyolxauhqui may be a goddess you are not familiar with. Most Pagans I know are drawn to lots of European deities as well as those from Greek and Egyptian mythology. However, the legends from Central America are often overlooked. I have been fortunate enough to tour a number of Aztec and Mayan ruins on my trips to Mexico and fell in love with the art and stories of these amazing ancient cultures. In this post I’d like to introduce you to Coyolxauhqui ((koh-yol-SHAUH-key) who is the moon goddess of the Aztecs.

There are two versions of her story. According to the Ancient History Encyclopedia, the first version depicts Coyolxauhqui as the mother of Huitzilopochtli, the sun god. A conflict arises when Coyolxauhqui insists on staying at the sacred mountain of Coatepec (Snake Mountain) instead of following her son’s plan of resettling at Tenochtitlan which, historically, became the capital of the…

THE OAK TREE

The Oak Tree stands, silent, gazing
With the wisdom of one hundred years,
Witness to life’s joys and sorrows,
to the laughter and the tears.
To love lost and love found,
To the happiness and pain
Life’s dramas all unfolding,
Sunlit skies and winter’s rain
The dance of Nature continues on.
The light, the blue, the dark, the grey,
Ever constant yet ever changing
As the seasons dance and play
And the Oak Tree stands, silent, gazing…

What Are Phytochemicals?

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarCrooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

Study after study after study has shown that a diet high in fruits and vegetables is especially beneficial to human health and can even reduce the risk of many serious health conditions. Phytochemicals may be one of the reasons why.

Phytochemicals are chemical compounds produced by plants. They are commonly found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, and grains. Phytochemicals are frequently confused with phytonutrients. Whereas phytochemicals include plant compounds that are beneficial as well as those that are detrimental, phytonutrients specifically refer to compounds that have a positive effect. In other words, all phytonutrients are phytochemicals, but not all phytochemicals are phytonutrients.

The distinction between phytochemicals and phytonutrients is an important one, as not all phytochemicals are beneficial. Technically, cocaine, codeine, oxycodone, and nicotine are all phytochemicals. Even ricin, one of the most deadly and potent poisons in the world, is a phytochemical. This doesn’t mean that all phytochemicals are bad, quite…

Natural Remedies for ADHD

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarCrooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a neurodevelopmental disorder, typically first diagnosed when an affected individual is elementary school age.

It is identified by behavior that makes it difficult for affected individuals to function effectively, or mature and develop as other children normally do. In general, people with ADHD behave in ways that show a pattern of:

  • Hyperactivity: Extremely high and changeable levels of agitated actions
  • Inattentiveness: Distracted, unfocused, unable to complete activities
  • Impulsivity: Acts hastily, without thinking of what could happen as a result

While most children and adults may occasionally behave in ways that seem hyperactive, inattentive, and impulsive, it is the intensity and consistency of this sort of behavior that could result in an ADHD diagnosis.

Initial Clinical Trial Finds that a Combination of Indian Frankincense and Lemon Balm May Improve Memory Function in Older Adults

Crooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs's avatarCrooked Bear Creek Organic Herbs

As lifespans around the world increase, age-related health concerns become a growing medical issue. Memory loss and dementia affect many older adults, and prescription and non-prescription treatments for these conditions are commonly used. Of the range of herbal remedies available, limited research has been done on the potential of Indian frankincense (Boswellia serrata, Burseraceae) and lemon balm (Melissa officinalis, Lamiaceae) to improve memory. These plants have been used in Iranian traditional medicine for centuries in the treatment of neurological disorders, and individually have been reported to improve memory. Though an animal study reported that the combination was more effective than either plant individually, the authors found no human study that researched the combination for the treatment of memory loss. They conducted a clinical trial to assess the impact of the joint use of the 2 plants in treating memory issues among older adults.

100 Benefits Of Meditation

We Signed Up For This's avatarWe Signed Up For This

Did you know that people who meditate for a short time each day are much happier than people who don’t?

Meditators are much healthier with greatly extended life spans, too. As a matter of fact, their health is so much better that a number of insurance companies have reduced premiums for people who meditate.

Did you know that experienced meditators have developed many latent abilities that they never knew they had, abilities that exist within every person? And they have gotten much closer to answering life’s mysterious questions?

They are much smarter, too. In fact, meditators brains have been proven to function at a superior level on every single test, measurement, and assessment that the scientific community has generated. That is one reason why top level executives and CEOs meditate.

Were you aware that meditators produce immensely more pleasurable brain chemicals, the same chemicals that flow through your system on…

A place of joyful peace,
Come sit you down upon the sward,
Your burdens be released,
And with your soul drink deep the brew,
That is the forest wild,
And through the wisdom you imbibe,
Feel free once more Earth child.”

April Ascension Energies

We Signed Up For This's avatarWe Signed Up For This

MARCH REVIEW

March energy was focused on compassion. As you nurture yourself into a strong flow, you have a wellspring of Love to flow into the world. Compassion is a catalyst that nurtures change. The Ascension process is about a deeper flow of Love that shifts the trajectory of evolution into a more cohesive collective through empowered individuals connecting.

Areon is fond of calling humanity a “connected collective” so we foster a stronger understanding of our connected nature. This is what helps us begin to focus on the vast engine of creation that is the subtle realm.

We begin with a mental understanding, but we evolve through the courage of emotional flow.

We communicate with the subtle realm via our subtle bridge – our thoughts and emotions. We then communicate with the physical realm with action (or inaction).

Compassion is a powerful subtle communication to observe in yourself. You may have felt more…
