A beautiful poem about creating a friendship thru blogging with someone you’ve never met. Simply beautiful!

I first “met” Kim through her blog, The Lavender Letters. Ever since Kim first commented on my blog, she’s been nothing but kind. We soon began communicating through email and I realized just how much we have in common. She is one of the most positive people I have ever encountered through blogging and she is extremely talented. Both Kim and I write poetry and I thought it would be wonderful if we were to work together to create a poem about friendship.

Having a meaningful friendship online isn’t always easy. Because no one can ever really know someone without meeting them and slowly learning if they can trust them, one has to be safe and yet willing to share kindness. There needs to be a balance; we need to share our experiences, while still being cautious. While we may not always be able…

Impossible is Not a Fact—Writer’s Quote Wednesday

Janice's avatarOntheland

Impossible is not a fact, it is an attitude.

There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.

Paul Coelho, The Alchemist

It always seems impossible until it’s done.

Nelson Mandela

Inspiring words–I discovered the first quote, while researching Christiana Figueres, leader of the United Nations climate change negotiations between  world governments.  A New Yorker journalist noticed that Ms. Figueres has a framed saying behind her desk that reads: “Impossible is not a fact, it is an attitude.” A fitting motto for someone who is passionate about fighting climate change, and whose role includes leading a team of 500 United Nations employees and hosting annual climate change conferences.

How to blow away your customers – do something unexpected

Do Something unexpected…

This past Sunday was my first visit to a place in Hendersonville, NC called The Dugout.  My friend Brad and I went there to have some lunch and catch the Patriots game. Little did I know that I would be blown away by the actions of one of the employees.

As you might have guessed from the name, the Dugout is a sports bar.  Lots of TV’s, sports memorabilia on the walls and plenty of “pub grub” on the menu.  When our server, Josh, told us that everything they make is fresh and homemade, I was excited to try to the food.

And it was good. I had the fried green tomato and shrimp BLT.  Yum.

But that’s not the “blown away” part.

At about half time in the game, I asked Josh what they had for dessert.  They only thing they had that day, he said, was a…

Happiness – 101 Simple Things

Do you have a list?… Happiness – 101 Simple Things.

StephJ's avatar

What is it that causes happiness? Personally I think happiness is a collection of a million little things, people, memories, feelings. I think happiness is a matter of perspective and it is a goal that every human wishes to reach. I think it is impossible to reach happiness, because…

Happiness is not an end.

Happiness is change. something that changes and shifts in meaning as you grow in life.

Happiness is growth. It is growing, changing and realizing what you require to reach the next level in your life.

Happiness is self awareness. To be happy is to know what your needs are in life and how you can fulfill those needs.

Happiness is courage. Being brave enough to stand up for yourself, to reach out to family and friends and say. This might be crazy but it will make me happy.

Happiness is a journey. Take a walk…
