national-senior-citizens-dayToday, August 21, 2017, we celebrate the people who are part of the fastest growing demographic in the world. According to the traditional definition, a senior citizen is anyone older than 60 years of age, but this seems relatively young in today’s society! When it comes to new technologies, adults above the age of 55 represent 65% of all early adopters. This demographic is also the most politically engaged segment of the population. Almost 80% of all senior citizens vote in a presidential election, while the overall voter turnout is usually around just 50%.

President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first National Senior Citizens Day in 1988. In his explanation he wrote that, “Older citizens are reinforcing their historical roles as leaders and as links with our patrimony and sense of purpose as individuals and as a Nation. For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to…

The National Museum of Singapore – 8 things I didn’t know about

Clarity Compass Tours's avatarThe Clarity Compass

My first building & architecture tour finds itself at the National Museum of Singapore, not that I am technically inclined in that area (of architectural design) but hey we learn something new each day. Somehow today, I was a little bit relieved, the guide is a local Singaporean.

The Raffles Library and Museum building was opened on 12 October 1887, in the Jubilee year of Queen Victoria. Built in 1887, this was when Singapore was still under the British rule and therefore its architecture was heavily influenced including the pillars, structure, columns by the neo-classicial style somewhat similar to the British Museum (see below picture).

Aside: I love the British Museum and have personally gone there four times.

  1. From the interior of the old Rotunda (which is the inside of the dome), one can see 50 stained glass panels, 50 because…

I’ve Landed A Job As A Magazine Editor… I’m Looking For Writers For Paid Work!! #amwriting #writerslife

Author, Kim Knight's avatarAuthor, Kim Knight

If you’ve been connected with me for a while, you’ll know how much I believe in The Universe, fate and how us humans are supported by some unknown force. Earlier this month I said to myself, (and Didi) for that matter, how much I’d love to get back into magazine writing. I miss it,I used to contribute a few articles to a book, beauty and fashion section a while back. I also wrote about this kinda dream you could say, in my own journal this month.

Over the last twenty four hours the opportunity found me! The founder of the magazine was looking for an editor to take over, he connected with me on Facebook. What a surprise to land not only  paid writing work outside of blogging and novel writing ,but to be asked to be the actual chief editor. Madness… I can’t believe it myself, anyway, I signed a…

When you’re weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I’m on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I’ll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease…

Angelic Beauty – no doubt.

At Maleny in the Queensland Sunshine Coast Hinterland, there is a fabulous view of the Glass House Mountains from McCarthy’s lookout.

A group of thirteen volcanic plugs. The mountains were named the Glass House mountains by explorer Lieutenant James Cook in 1770 because they were reminiscent of the glass furnaces of his native Yorkshire.* Source: Wikipedia
