No Thank You!

You know that feeling you get when you finally get home, walk in the door, and all you want is peace and quiet and maybe some light conversation with someone.  That’s it, no TV, no radio, nothing more.  Just conversation and peace.  I find myself like that lately wherein I don’t want to watch TV, I don’t want to listen to the radio, I don’t want to hear people talking on the TV, radio, internet or any other device.  I don’t want to check my phone for messages, Instagram, LinkedIn, FB or any other social media.  I just want to be at peace.  I just want to play with my baby kitties.  I just want that glass of wine and light conversation.  Sometimes I get so tired of all of that and just want to be within the presence of self and enjoy the time with my babies and significant other.  But, give me some time to wind down and I like to blog with you and read your posts for a bit!  But, that’s it – nothing more.  (Sometimes you just need a break from it all.) Crazy huh?

Does anyone else get this way?  Or am I a lonely lady in this…

With light and love to you all!

  1. I agree totally, Dawn! We are wired by nature to appreciate peace and quiet, with some accompaniment from the furr babies, sound of birds and crickets and easy conversation of loved ones. Let’s face it–modern gadgets are latecomers that need to be consumed in measured doses!
    Hang in there,

  2. I haven’t had a TV for the last 20 years 🙂 I do listen to the radio, but all too often the talk gets on to the lastest murders, deaths, rapes, financial crisis, etc. so I often have to turn it off, especially if I’m eating. I find it a bit obscene to eat whilst hearing about all this tragedy and negativity, which moreover tends to suck away my energy and joy. I love to hang out with a glass of wine, in the late evening, on my patio with my 3 darling felines, and listen to the birds and other natural sounds. Just peacefully enjoying the moment, with nothing to do, prove or justify. Just being. So you’re not a lonely lady, no 🙂 I’m with you on this one 🙂 Sam

  3. I don’t know really. I think it started because I was travelling alot and so was always in rented rooms, which didn’t have TVs. Then when I finally got a bit more stable and had my own appartment, I just didn’t think to get a TV. I remember when I was living in the UK, I started getting threatening letters from the TV license authority because they just couldn’t believe I didn’t have a TV. I ended up getting so desperate with their aweful letters that I wrote them back in red ink, telling them to come over and check for themselves or get the h*ll out of my life 😉 Well, maybe not quite in that direct language 😉 but it worked, I didn’t get any more threatening letters from the TV license company 🙂 Btw: My brother doesn’t have a TV either.
